Wednesday Bacon.

Greetings!

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes for my migraine a few days ago and for the dentist yesterday.  All went well there. For those of you who may be worried about going to the dentist, it's probably safer than the doctors office. My dentist told me before that they know how to protect both staff and patients from things they learned during AIDs. It makes sense to me. I did ask if he and staff were able to finally receive a covid vaccination. He said, "Yes, I get the second one next week." He then proceed to tell me how inept Oregon is on vaccines. That our medical facility is averaging 4 injects an hour. Yes, I wrote 4. That my dentist and his partner paid to be trained in giving the vaccine and have offered to open a community vaccine center but they were told there are no vaccines. That Oregon gets less because our numbers in covid cases were lower than other states. So, of course any vaccines that come to Oregon go to the big cities. How pathetic is that? I still can't get over 4 an hour. At that rate Mr. M. and I won't get vaccinated until next year.
OK off to something funner. The other night Mr. M. was watching the History channel, a show that was counting down the most loved foods and how they are made. One was chocolate covered bacon. Now, I am into salty and sweet as much as the next person, but this just doesn't sit right with me. In other words don't mess with my bacon. However, I made some for Mr. M. and it is his new treat experience. He loves it!!!!!!

Also I am still behind in 29 Faces because the sun was out yesterday afternoon and I wanted to be in the yard absorbing as much as I can. I got my tables set up in the greenhouse. I want to let all of you know that we get more rain than most and the wind is vicious. Mr. M, has my greenhouse screwed to the deck, tied off at the fence and reinforced on the inside. We are praying that the pacific ocean winds don't blow it down. LOL
Yeah even when the sun is out it is overcast here.
Greenhouse ready to go.

Like I said I am so far behind in art so
here are a few older piece.
I think I created these for 29 Faces a few years ago.

That's it for now. Wishing all of you a great day

T stands for art, garden and rolls

Greetings!

Today is Tuesday and after I write this I will be off to the dentist. uuuhhgggg....
Before that though I want to spend some time with the T-gang over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's
My drink is hot water with ground cinnamon. It is so good for you and a great way to get some of your daily H/20 quota.
I am watching a movie while sketching out the next face for 29 faces. This was last night.

 Just getting started
Mr. M. got my greenhouse set up and reinforced on our deck.
It is supposed to be nice the next few days and I will get my tables and a few plants inside.
My friend, Donna Z who moved from Florence, is trying my pizza dough recipe. I also wanted to let her, and everyone else, know that this dough makes the best rolls or bread. I made these last week, Ohhhh so good.

This makes 2 pizza crusts so I cut the recipe in half.

2 packets (1/4 oz each or 2 1/4t each) dry active yeast
1 1/2 cup warm water
2Tbls sugar
1/4 cup olive or grapeseed oil, plus more for the bowl.
2t salt
4 cups of all purpose flour. Plus more for work space.

Pour 1 1/2 cup warm water into a large bowl. Sprinkle yeast and let stand until foamy. About 5 minutes.
2. Whisk sugar, oil, and salt into yeast mixture. Then add flour until a sticky dough forms. Transfer dough to an oiled bowl and brush top with oil. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm draft-free place. Allow to double in size for about an hour. Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and gently knead 1 or 2 times. Roll the dough evenly until you have about a 10 inch tube shape. Cut dough into rolls and place on a lightly buttered sheet pan. Bake at 350° F until rolls are golden. check your oven. Mine takes about 10 minutes.

That's it I am off to the dentist.

Monday Movie 29 Faces

 Greetings!
Finally Sunday night and the migraine along with the residual of the migraine are gone. For those of you who suffer from them you know what I am taking about. For those of you who don't, just be thankful for that.
My brother, Steve, phoned me last week and recommended a short series to me. It is only 4 episodes. It's a documentary of something that has been going on for decades and still is. To tell you the truth I couldn't stop watching it.
I saw it through Netflix and it's called Hotel Cecil.
The story focuses on one event, out of 100s that happen there, with tidbits of other stories. This is a horrible place set right in the middle of skid row Los Angeles, California.
This documentary has many level of human failures to a system that is only getting worse. It shows how people from all over the world can get caught up in a conspiracy, of theories and emotion. It touches on mental illness, but most it shows the nefariousness of humans.
 I highly recommend, Hotel Cecil.

As for 29 faces I am behind thanks to migraine. I did manage to get 2 drawings done today. (Sunday)
So here are #s 19 and 20
Yes this girl has dark, perfect eyebrows.
Same girl
I will get to all of your blog posts ASAIC today.
Have a great Monday.

TAD 29 Faces and food

Greetings!

Today is Thursday Art Date with Rain. This month has been different themes on film and actors. You would think this would be an easy month for me but I have struggled and have been challenged. Rain's point. LOL
I will also tell you that I had to drive into Eugene yesterday so my time for art has been shorten. I drew this, kind of, representation of Amy Schumer. Don't be too hard on me I did this in 35 minutes.
Also this is # 18 for 29 faces.
She has that crooked little smile.

Since I didn't blog yesterday here is # 17 for 29 faces.
Mr. M. says she is wild eye'd. OK.

Do you like broccoli soup?
I do, and make it as often as I can. I make small batches because Mr. M. doesn't like broccoli. REALLY??
This is an easy recipe. Remember I don't measure.
In a pot melt some butter, add some onions and celery and cook for about 5 minutes. Add cut up broccoli and 1 potato. Add more butter if needed. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes. Add veggie or chicken broth to well cover the broccoli. I add garlic salt, dill weed, parsley, a bit of thyme, pepper and 2 heaping T of plain Greek yogurt. You can use sour cream too. Bring this to a boil making sure yogurt is mixed in then turn down heat and allow broccoli and potato to cook. Then turn off heat and allow to cool down a bit. Pour this into a food processor or blender and mix unto desired consistency. I like it with small chunks. Now it is ready to eat. Re heat if needed.

Please stop by Rain's to see what others have created and to see what Rain is doing.

T stands for food and 29 Faces

Greetings!

Today is T day over at Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's. It's always a fun time over there so be sure to check it out.
This is day 16 for 29 Faces. The month is almost gone.
I want to thank all of you for so much encouragement with my art. There are times that things I show are darn right ugly LOL but all of you always give me such great feedback and that makes me want to create more art. With that said I have now idea where I was going with this face but here it is.

It was Mexican food night in our house. I made spicy airfried chicken, rice, and fresh string beans and at the last minute decided to make Bolillo bread. Pronounced Bo-le-yo.
Like I said I made it in record time. It is a dense, soft bread that doesn't have much flavor so I add a bit of garlic powder and cumin to spice it up. Not much a pinch of each. This bread is easy to make and very good. Great with stews, soups and anything Mexican. Recipe at the end.
They look a little anemic but I promise they are done.
Supposed to be an egg white wash on them and most of you know I don't like that.
Last night's dinner and my drink to join the T-gang.

I don't care for white rice and Mr. M. doesn't care for grain rices so we switch off. The chicken is marinated in a spices salsa the outcome is sooooo good. I make most of my food in an airfryer but baking in the oven is just as good.
And Mr. M. got spice cake for desert.
Bolillo Mexican white bread
A lot of Mexican breads are sweet. This one is not. When my father-in-law was alive he taught me how to make this bread.
This is a big batch I cut the recipe in half.
1 13 cups warm water
1 package (1/4 oz) of active yeast
4 cups all purpose flour
1t salt, 1t sugar, 1 egg white beaten and set aside.
Pour water into a bowl and then sprinkle yeast. Let set about 5 minutes. Combine dry ingredients in another bowl then pour the yeast water in and mix together. This is a stiff dough and you may  need to add a bit more water. A teaspoon at a time. Knead for 10 minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl and allow to rise about 1 hour. Punch down and knead again for about 10 minutes or until the dough is smooth. Divide the dough into ball and then into oval shape. Place on baking sheets, cover and allow to rise for 30 minutes. Score the top and brush each ball with the egg.
Bake at 375°F /190C for about 30 minutes.
Yours will be nice and golden brown.

And as I was looking for a picture I found these. Some of you may remember them. I sold all but one that I kept for myself. These are made with gold and marble leaf, acrylic on canvas, 20x16"

That's it for today.
What ever you do today make it the best.

Unexpected Happy Valentine's and Monday Movie

 Greetings!

Today is Monday Movie and my entry for day 15 for 29 faces.
Before I get to that though, I want to share what I got yesterday. We had to go to a store called Bi-Mart. If you remember the first Walmart that came to be, it was a little bit of this and that with a some pantry foods. That is Bi-Mart. We just needed a few things when Mr. M. spots a pot set on sale. I needed pots badly. Mr. M. says, " Happy Valentine's." I was so happy. We got the other little things when we just so happened (hee hee hee) to wander into the garden section. OMG! Set up for all to see was the perfect greenhouse. We walked inside and Mr. M. had plenty of head space. He's 6'3" The GH is 6x8x10 and has zipper openings at both ends with zipper air control flaps. I can't see how thick the poly is but at least a 6ml. There were 3 boxes left. Oh and the price was right too. Mr. M. looked at me and said "Happy Valentines." A worker came by to take the GH up front while we finished our shopping. I was (and still am) so happy I was dancing around the store.

Are these pretty or what? Stainless with copper.

I found this photo online. This is what mine looks like.

Did you get anything nice for Valentine's day?

Here is my face for 29 Faces.
Now for the movie of the week. :)
I was torn on which movie to share. A few of my readers are not into the scary or strange. However, I watched a movie on Prime that I actually had to watched twice. Remember I am listening/watching. The movie is called, "Marrowbone" it's the families last name. It is strange, and a bit confusing, especially if you are doing 50 other things while the movie is playing. (giggle) The movie seems like it is about ghosts in a house. That is not the what is a happening at all. It is about multiple personalities. I don't want to give away too much but.... the ending is superb. A loving, well written ending that made me WANT to watch it again.
I hope you give it a try.
It can be watched on Prime, Hulu premium and for $2.99 on Youtube, Google Play and Vudu.

Have a great day everyone!

29 Faces and the meat dept.

 Greetings!
and Happy Valentine's Day.

Sunday and I have my 14th entry for 29 Faces. I have heard some people say that drawing a profile is easier for them. Well it is not for me. I would much rather draw face on or a bit tilted, profiles are difficult for me. With that, I wanted to draw at least 1 for 29 Faces.
Please click on the images from a better look.

Now for the meat dept.
The last time I was at the store I asked if I could take photos. I was told no for some idiotic reason. ( I was a manager for Safeway) There is no reason I couldn't take photos. So yesterday I had to pick up prescriptions and so went back to the meat dept and took these photos. I was nervous and so just started shooting. I wish I would have gotten the images of prices. However, for Iris over at https://irisflavia.blogspot.com/

This is the packaged lunch meats and cheap hot dogs then goes on to cheeses.

Turn the corner from the lunch meat to this small section of pork products.

Keep going around to beef and organic beef. The little section in front is for specials. Yeah, burger in tubes, that's real special GAG! Oh and that is $3.49 a lb not for a tube.

This  section is more expensive hot dogs, brats, and sausages. You can see the sign for a sale of $4.89 normally these run around $6 to 7 a package.

Here is the rest of the section from the above photo. At the end are a few hams. To expensive to buy.

At the end of the case by the ham is another sale section. These are Ribeye steaks on sale for $8.99 a lb Not a bad price from my area. They also have fish next to the steaks buy one get one free. Well the one you pay for is twice the price it should be. You all know this, stores don't give anything away free.

Then from the last photo turn right and there is the meat counter. You can see some of the prices. Ground beef is $6.99 lb and bacon is $4.99 lb. Oh and just say it like it is $7. and 5.

Then, if you turn around from the meat counter you will have a selection of chick. It is the cheapest thing in the store.

That is the meat department at Fred Meyers. I will try and get photos of the meat department at Safeway/Albertsons. They have a smaller department and the meat is twice as expensive.  I don't normally shop there.

Well that is it for now. Have a great day.
